The transformation of London’s foremost high street, Oxford Street West will turn a single shopping street inside out to create a varied, entertaining and well-connected district of distinct neighbourhoods, with the Oxford Street pleasure promenade at its heart. This vision will be delivered through an innovative creative and planning partnership ensuring it becomes one of the great international case studies of dynamic urban change. Intensification in the Oxford Street West district serves as a both a catalyst and an opportunity to optimise performance - across all facets - of the Oxford Street spine and its immediate context. Intensification will deliver environmental improvements such as a reduction in traffic and an improved public realm; an increase in and enhancement of local amenities; an increase in commercial and residential space; and new jobs and economic activity that provide local as well as national benefit.
