The masterplan for Covent Garden, London’s oldest square, represents a further stage in its evolution. It proposes interventions at multiple scales all working to respect its incredible heritage, retain its visitor attraction and broaden its appeal to Londoners. The masterplan identifies opportunities to improve the area’s legibility and connectivity, and to create a public realm not only of intensity and excitement but also offering places for rest and relaxation. As well, the masterplan proposed a series of building redevelopment projects to reinforce the masterplan’s objective to ensure Covent Garden is both a destination and a living piece of London offering a diverse the mix of uses.
